Knik Goosebay Road Construction update-
Thank you to Dave Filucci (DOT) for stopping dirtwork at Cannon Hill Cemetery. Our request now is for DOT to have the hill hydroseeded and the bike trail should remain next to the road with a guard rail to protect the trail users. We are requesting that DOT, DNR, Knik Chiefs Foundation, Friends of Old Knik, other concerned community members participate in a Memorandum of Agreement concerning all the sacred sites on KGB road that will be affected by Road Construction.
1911-1912 WILLIAMSON WALKER SURVEY depicts the trail that goes around the back of the Old Wasilla Cemetery as part of the Knik to Cottonwood trail but is more commonly known as THE NEW CARLE TRAIL.

These are Orville Hernings words:
"When we arrived in Tyoonek, we found the boat had sailed south on the 8th, so I had to wait until the 24th for another boat. During this time we held a miners' meeting over one Major Matson, who had made it a rule to swindle everyone he could on the beach. L.C.Pratt was elected Judge, and I was elected Clerk of the Court, with E. Cameron as Sheriff. We found the Major guilty of swindling one Silas Benton to the amount of $100.00 and the court ordered the Major to pay the bill at once, or the court would levy on his Provisions and Property for collection."

NAGPRA- Protecting Native Graves-"This treatment of Native American remains as scientific specimens deprives native people of the basic right to properly bury or care for these ancestors," said a spokesman for the Umatilla Tribes. "By enacting NAGPRA, Congress intended that Native American ancestral human remains be treated the same as non-Indian remains, with respect."
